Sadness among the joy
Yesterday, we experienced sadness among the joy that Orion has brought us. Bear, our devoted Lab passed away at 16 years of age, almost 17. My husband and daughter prepared her a meal of tuna and Kraft dinner, she ate it up with vigor. She was one special pet, she just wasn't a pet, she was part of our family. Love you Bear, you were our joy, love and so much more. Bear was brought to us from the Humane Society, she was an abandoned puppy along with her brother's and sisters.
When we first brought Bear home as a puppy, she developed a disease called Parvo, it was a touch and go situation. The Vet told us, either she'll be a fighter or she'll succumb to the disease. Well, Bear was a fighter, she lived almost 17 years later. She was a gentle, intelligent pet. She knew how to spell. We would spell CAR, TREAT, WALK, and she knew, she knew what those words meant. When she was told to go to bed, she would take to the stairs and go to bed in her doggie basket.
Bear developed cancer, she over came. She had dental work, extractions, perfect smile. She was one healthy senior. But old age got her in the end. Her life here was a good one, she brought us soooo much happiness and all who knew her will miss her.
We love you Bear! I know we'll see you again in the world next, and I am looking forward to that day. Love you bunches.
Until next time
Grannie
