Remember .....

Hot pants and go go boots.
Mini skirts. Midi skirts. Patchouli perfume. Flowers in your hair. Playing on the streets and back alleys from morning to sundown and after. Air raid sirens. The death of JFK. MacIntosh Toffee. Cracker Jack. Sen Sen.

Thrills, loving it, even though it tasted like soap. Lee Jeans with the Lee leather patch. Convertible Mustangs. When you could buy a bag of candy for a nickel. When your milk was delivered in bottles and placed in the milk chute. Playing marbles. Black rotary telephones. Black and white television sets. Bonanza, Don Messer, Disney Show and Ed Sullivan.

The first time you bought a colored television. Home movies on on reel to reel film. Black and white photographs. The introduction of instant photographs, 'polaroid'. People smoking in elevators, hospital rooms, grocery stores, restaurants, movie theatres. No car seats. Babies sat on their mothers lap in the front seat of the car. Babies were put to bed on their tummies with a blanket. Crib bumper pads. Bare foot babies. Cloth diapers. A&W where the waitress came to your car window, placed a tray on the window. Frothy, cold mug of Root Beer.

Friday night drive-in with your Mom and Dad, the smell of popcorn in the air, clear, starry night. Black, shiny, patten leather shoes. New Easter bonnet. Sunday church and pancake breakfast. When your Mom stayed home and didn't work. No fake Christmas trees. Listening to your LP's on a record player. Cherished collection of LP's, Shag carpet. Avocado green or harvest gold, kitchen appliances. Cars and homes didn't have air conditioning. You didn't need a helmut to ride a bike. Cars didn't have seat belts. You could drink and drive. Germaine Greer....women's lib. Vietnam. When children respected their parents.

Trudeau, FLQ, War Measures Act.

Peace.

Those were the days my friend
We'd thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance
Forever and the day

We'd live the life we'd choose
We'd fight and never lose
Fore we were young
And sure to have our way

Until next time
