Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow

As this year comes to an end, I look back and say, wow, so much has happened.

The year has been good but has brought some tears as well.

Norm continues to do well and remains cancer free. We are thankful for the excellent medical care we receive in Canada. Norm will be followed by an oncologist for five years where he undergoes frequent followup and screening appointments. This includes a blood test every six months and a ctscan every year. Surgery, Chemo and radiation however, did have everlasting side effects, but we still remain thankful.

We get enormous enjoyment with the time we spend with our grandson, he’s a happy, energetic six year old. He is quickly becoming an excellent swimmer and soccer player. But most of all he makes us laugh.

We will be again be grandparents in February and are excited to meet and welcome to our world a new grand daughter. My daughter unfortunately has had some misfortune during her pregnancy, but is doing well as can be expected.

A union of two lives  took place this summer, where my daughter was married. A beautiful ceremony surrounded by the people who mean the most to them both.

We lost our sweet and loyal Austin, we miss him dearly but keep him alive in our memories of him.

I pray and keep in my thoughts those who experienced great loss this year. Losing a parent is deeply hurtful, time doesn’t erase the hurt, it makes it easier. I can’t imagine the loss of a life long love, nor the loss of a child.  My heart goes out to those who are grieving and pray that you are able in your own time to live life once again.

My resolve in the new year is to be kinder, and more empathetic. I pray my Christian walk deepens and that I stay on that path. For you, may the new year bring peace, happiness and health.

Until next time

Me
