Let's get personal, not too personal

This entry may offend some, however, libido is simply a fact of life and I feel needs explanation when you reach the 50+ age. I won't be revealing too much here just the facts.

Libido apparently is sexual desire and was meant originally for animals to reproduce. Libido as it is written tends to be very strong in males of all species.

When we were younger libido was heightened because we needed to do our duty and continue the human race. We were attractive, we had endurance and we strutted our stuff (like all animals do) before mating.

Now however, reproduction is not in the picture, wrinkles, hair loss, declining muscle mass and accumulation of body fat, among other age-related changes, can make men and women feel less attractive, no longer able to seduce or attract the opposite sex to mate. Heightened libido when we were younger was because it was our instinct to reproduce. As we age, reproducing is not a factor, once we realize that we don't need to reproduce then we can experience new ground.

Today, as we age, we do things more slowly (even the man in our lives), which can be a true benefit to women. However, familiarity can breed boredom; we lose interest in doing the same old thing the same old way time after time, so we need to mix it up.

We now can experience that new ground as we age, we have more time now, children are grown, however, you may have a parent now living with you which could dampen the mood, worrying about them hearing you in the next room. But otherwise, it's a whole new world for our libido. We are now more comfortable with ourselves, we're both wrinkly and we are both losing our hair, we don't need to strut our stuff any longer, as reproduction is no longer a factor, we only need to concentrate on exploring new ground.

In closing, some food for thought, they say different foods can increase your libido, celery, oysters, almonds, avocado and so on. Give it a try, and enjoy, just enjoy.

Until next time.

  1. Pave the way to boosting your libido and changing the boredom causing familiar into a more fulfilling and exciting unknown. Read books and articles, watch videos together, eat those libido increasing foods and introduce simple to outrageous paraphernalia to tease and tantalize your senses. Don't forget to remove the hearing aid from your adult parent's ear, put some soft music on (in your parent's room) and close both doors.

Finding libido at 50+ is not an issue for some, it's finding a partner.

  2. thanks for the advice Dee, I would never change up my honey, heightened libido or not, reading, videos and eating are fun and fine but we haven't stopped the exploration of each other and won't even into our 80's God willing, as long as we can hear, see and feel.
